What Should You Sell? How About Selling People What They Want






There are all kinds of products and services in the market-place. To be successful, SELL what people want and not what people NEED. What is the difference between need and want?  The dictionary defines a necessity as “an indispensable thing” – something that everyone needs. There are some things that everyone clearly needs just to survive, such as food, water, shelter, and clothing. 

You need food to live, but that doesn’t mean you need a gourmet meal at a four-star restaurant. You need shoes to protect your feet, but that doesn’t mean you need a $250 pair of Italian leather shoes. The gourmet meal and the leather Italian shoes are (luxuries) things you may want but do not have to have.  If you find a product that is well received you don't have to open up a retail store. So many online ways for you to market if you have access to the internet, email and a computer or smart phone. Look into sites like e-Bay, Amazon, or Craiglist (many others out there). If you have a service to provide you can use sites like Fiverr, Etsy and others.


     1. Be careful of launching new products/services - it may be             great to introduce a new product of service to the consumer.             However, if there is no history; why will someone buy an                 unknown item from an unknown marketeer. It may have been           tried and tested but no marketability.

         2. Help solve a problem or something that may become a                 problem. People have new problems everyday. 

          Find common problems that many people have. The bigger the        market the more sales potential. 

           Making sales is the name of the game.

            A. Essentials - water, clothing, shelter, toilet paper,                            personal care items, tooth paste
               
            B. Services Needed – Doctors, Clinics, Lawyers, Marriage              counsellors, Police and Investigative Services, Sports.

              -they love to participate in something others cannot
              -people want clout  to be somebody  and have exclusivity
              -space travel  - Virgin Explorer
              -items or events of limited or exclusive availability 

5.  People want to be Trendsetters
-they want to be ahead of the pack (front of the line)
-preview screenings new movies or concerts

6.  People want access to the Top Speakers/Gurus and Events
-want exclusive access to high demand personalities or events    such as Bill Clinton, Warren Buffet and entertainers.

        7. People want to be recognized as Achievers or being                      someone of Importance - they want to be known for some            accomplishment they have achieved.

Be careful about this because it is one of the most competitive niches on the Internet. However, this is also one of the easiest niches to enter.

This niche does require some unique expertise. Go for it if you have a good talent for creating entertaining videos, cartoons, etc.

People want to live as comfortably as they can, without any aches and pains. Do you have an idea for a product that will help them do that? This niche is often abused and may have a bad reputation because of all the spam associated with magic herbs and pills.
People want to get skinny – fitness & nutrition
People want to look younger   & live longer
People want to feel better
-   Health, nutrition, clothing  and make-up

12. Products that save time and effort (People need Things        Done).

People love pressing a button and getting things done! Do some research on popular topics and make your work available to your customers for a price. You could also create a software that will save your customer hours of work.
